Rise Up Like the Eagle
04:46
|
|||
It's another Monday morning and you dread the thought of rising
While you wonder where you'll find strength to face what waits along the way
You won't have to fear the mountain as it rises up before you
If you linger in His presence for a while before you start the day
Then you'll rise up like the eagle with the valley far below you
You shall run and not grow weary from the race to capture heaven's prize
As you walk along the pathway there will be no thought of fainting
While you're reaching for the promise of life that is set before your eyes
(If you could see the Promise of Life - that it's right before your eyes) (It's the Promise of Life and it's right before your eyes)
Scenes of yesterday's disasters fill the windows of your mem'ry
While you wrestle with the instinct to hide in the shelter of your mind
But you're drawn to Living Waters and the promise of refreshing
Where you revel in His presence and delight in the blessings that you find
Now concern about tomorrow draws imagination's panic
There's so much that's still uncertain with all of the plans that must be made
But you need to leave your worries with the One who knows the future
Let the Tree of Life sustain you each day as you rest beneath its shade

The Story of God's Love
04:34
|
|||
I heard about a man one day who fell from heaven's grace
And I wondered if he'd been abused but such was not the case
He'd once proclaimed for all to hear that Jesus was the One
But under heavy scrutiny he disavowed the Son
Well the last I heard he preached the word and thousands came to see
The truth about amazing grace and how it came to be
And as he spoke the Spirit fell on everyone that day
In many different languages they all began to pray
And then there was the man who thought that he was living right
Against religious radicals he fought a vicious fight
He finally got the government to outlaw true belief
And he thought he did a righteous deed by causing so much grief
He came on board when he met the Lord who turned his life around
It wasn't long before the Word became his battle ground
The message of salvation spread where ever he would go
The power of God to change a life - he wanted all to know
It happens time and time again – the story of God's love
In spite of man – against all odds – in mercy from above
God reaches down to wayward man entangled in his sin
One moment of surrender – then a new life can begin
How can it be that grace so free extends to everyone
No matter what our history there's freedom in the Son
Who sets us free from every bond that tangles up our lives
And heaven's choir rejoices when each wandering son arrives

I'll Be There
04:38
|
|||
When you took that step believing you were answering My call
Friends and fam’ly thought you foolish and your chances seemed so small
But when you saw the tempest and your heart began to sink
A desperate “Lord, please save me!” – that was all that you could think
I’ll be there when you most need me – I’ll be cheering just for you
I will never leave you lonely in whatever you may do
And when all you hear is silence it doesn’t mean I don’t care
When you’re longing for My presence, Child, – you know that I’ll be there
Now the storm around is raging, - it’s impossible to stand
This isn’t what you’d hoped for – not the way you had it planned
It’s a fearful apprehension and it takes your breath away
The overwhelming darkness leaves you longing for the day
Let your faith find its fulfillment as you place your hand in Mine
Through the darkness of the world around My light in you will shine
To a people who will praise my name for the love they will receive
As you tell what I have done for you many others will believe
(That) I’ll be there when they may need me – just the way I’ve been for you
I will never leave them lonely in whatever they may do
And when all they hear is silence it doesn’t mean I don’t care
When they’re longing for My presence, let them know that I’ll be there

Lord Remember Me
04:35
|
|||
The face is familiar – I’ve seen Him before though I can’t quite remember just where
He may have been walking alone by the shore or teaching the crowd about prayer
Where ever it was and whatever the time I know that He shouldn’t be here
He’s done nothing wrong – He’s committed no crime - His attitude makes that quite clear
Still the murderous crowd is demanding His life – they say He’s a threat to us all
That if everyone follows His radical words – then surely the nation will fall
Even the governor can’t find a cause that He should be sentenced to die
The charges against Him have never been proved – they just chose to believe in a lie
But me - I’m aware of the crimes that I’ve done - my sentence is totally just
And even the ones that I thought were my friends all view me in hopeless disgust
The sun starts to darken - there’s fear in each eye - the friends that stand by him are few
“Father forgive them” - He cries through His pain – “they don’t understand what they do”
Now my partner-in-crime joins the blood-thirsty mob insisting that He is a fraud
“Why can’t you deliver both us and yourself – if you are the true Son of God”
I can’t keep my silence I must speak my mind – with folly I can’t go along
“What right do you have – we are here for our sins but this man has done nothing wrong”
I’m stunned by my boldness I’m just not the type to differ from all of the crowd
But in this dark hour there’s no turning back – so I just have to say it out loud
“Lord I’m not worthy to ask for a thing but I now see my life in God’s sight
Forgive all my sins and remember my name in Your glorious kingdom of light”
He looks at me kindly with eyes full of love as I hang at eternity’s brink
And just for a moment as fear fills my heart – I’m guilty - is all I can think
But He says I’m forgiven and that there’s a place He’ll take me to this very day
It’s called Paradise – its the Garden of Rest and with Him forever I’ll stay

Come If You Are Weary
04:19
|
|||
So you’re looking for solutions to the multitude of questions
Begging to be answered – so you can travel on
Long ago you lost sight of the promises of heaven
Caught up in the lonely night – you hunger for the dawn
Come if you are weary, thirsting in your spirit
Stumbling in the darkness, tangled in despair
I will take the burdens that are tied upon your shoulders
Rest from all your struggles is waiting for you there
As you wander in the wasteland that stretches out before you
Hope of your returning grows dimmer every day
Still you feel the longing for earthly satisfaction
A Light to shine before you to brighten up the way
When you’re feeling so discouraged when you’re humbled by the journey
See the Rock before you – rest beneath its shade
Let the healing waters revive your wounded spirit
Stand in faith believing in each promise that I’ve made

A Father's Promise
04:37
|
|||
I have loved you since before the day I first laid eyes on you
When you nestled in the comfort of my arms
And I promised you that very day that I would shelter you
From the troubles of this world and all its harms
And this love I have for you – it will never cease to be
It doesn't matter where life's pathway leads you on
Because there's nothing you could ever do to make the promise void
It's a promise that's renewed with every dawn
Even when the disappointments come – as they will surely do
From the pain there is no where you can hide
I will always be a resting place where you can be restored
From the fury of the storm and raging tide
For the world in which you live – shows no mercy to the weak
You know the wounded of this life they throw away
But when I see the sparrow fall and I notice where he lands
That's the same way that I care for you each day
So why are you concerned about the things you cannot change
I've recorded every hair upon your head
Just consider how I clothe you like the lilies of the field
And each morning I provide your daily bread
You will never have a care that escapes My watchful eye
You will never have a need I can't provide
Though the whole world might abandon you and leave you all alone
When you want me I'll be standing by your side

I Have A Hope
04:18
|
|||
Just when I'm thinking the life I'm living could't get any more grim
Just when it seems the daylight around me couldn't be any more dim
When all of my friends and family seem to be heading the opposite way
I remember that Jesus won't ever forget me – I can take my troubles to Him
'Cause He promised me that He'd never forsake me and leave me without a Friend
He said He'd always be right there beside me – true to life's terminal end
I don't have to fear what may happen tomorrow or what the future may bring
(Because) I have a Hope that is always before me – (He's) the One on whom I depend
Sometimes I'm hurting when life's so uncertain and all of my friends disappear
I call for help but deafening silence is the only thing that I hear
Just about then it's the still small voice of the Spirit of God that comes through
Reassuring me that He is still in control and there's nothing I have to fear
He is a brother unlike any other – He couldn't be closer to me
His love is like an unstopable river – the water of life running free
Whatever I need He's already provided from His never-ending supply
When I look at the life stretching out before me His goodness is all I can see

It's Over
04:44
|
|||
It wasn't very long ago – they couldn't hold me down
With ropes and chains they'd capture me but I would not be bound
The powers of hell tormented me 'til Jesus called my name
And since the day He set me free life hasn't been the same
And it's over - sin no longer has dominion over me
All the chains are broke – the prison doors stand open before me
Now the Light that shines around me makes the night as bright as day
I'm rejoicing in the freedom and the peace that's come to stay
(Lord, I thank-you for Your freedom and Your peace that's come to stay)
I wanted so to follow Him – the One who set me free
To cling to my Deliverer but it was not to be
He sent me back to my hometown as a witness to His grace
“What wonders God has done for you go tell in every place”
It wasn't just His tender touch that humbled me that day
My gratitude for all He'd done was more than I could say
I tell you I'm a different man than what I was before
I found what I'd been missing when I entered through the Door

The Day I Failed
04:41
|
|||
Now I told You once that come-what-may – I would never let You go
Though all around may stumble that I'd never stoop so low
But when the test came I gave in to all-consuming fears
And now in retrospect and guilt I'm weeping bitter tears
It's good to know that when I fail You love me just the same
You won't allow the enemy to revel in my shame
You pick me up and set my feet upon the solid ground
And angels celebrate when every wand'ring sheep is found
She was just a harmless servant girl – but its what she had to say
She'd seen the two of us together earlier that day
I panicked at the consequence of being seen with You
And all the possibilities of what the crowd might do
Now it's been a while since Pentecost – and we're learning to receive
The mighty power You promised us before You had to leave
(Now) The Good News of the Kingdom 's being spread to every place
And I believe the Day I Failed is covered by Your grace
