Or leave His holy Heav’n and come to earth for me to die
The debt of guilt on my account to fully satisfy
It’s called mercy – and it so amazes me !
I stand in awe and watch the golden sun that’s setting in the west
And when the northern lights are flashing in the sky I feel so blest,
But of all the wonders in this world - when asked which one is best,
It’s your mercy, Lord, that so amazes me !
At times I fail so deeply as I wander here below.
It seems, for all my struggles, I’ve got nothing left to show
But when I come before You, with repentant heart, I know

Listen as the Father so commends His love toward us even while we are entangled in our sin
Saying “I will send a Savior who will break the chains of bondage and will free you from this prison you’ve been in
He shall let you drink from the rivers in the desert – of His kingdom there shall be no end
You will never find it needful to be lonely or afraid for He shall ever be your Counselor and Friend
Listen to the cry coming from the Father’s heart listen to the cry of every man
Listen to the pain and listen to the grieving that we have strayed so far from His plan
Listen to the broken hearts of those all around you – listen to the sorrow and the pain
Come with repentant hearts so that with joy we might come into His courts once again
Listen as the Savior kneels there in dark Gethsemane and prays to the Father as a Son
Father, if You’re willing let this cup of sorrow pass from Me – still not My will but Thine alone be done
Listen to the Father there in Jesus’ darkest hour as the breath of life from Him is all but squeezed
In a voice there’s no mistaking so that all around might hear – “This is my Son and in Him I am truly pleased”!
Listen to the silence of that one who lives next door and know that Jesus died for him as well as you
Be prepared to spend some sleepless nights in heav’nly service as you seek the Master’s mission here to do
Weep with those that weep, and yet rejoice with those that do rejoice and let His Holy Spirit guide you here
Setting all your expectations on the things that are above and give no place to worthless doubt or empty fear

As I come into Your presence at the closing of this day
And I shut the door on all this world’s strife
It’s so good to feel You near me, and to hear You softly say –
“Come, my child, I give to you this cup of life”.
Let my prayers be as incense and the lifting of my hands
Be to You as the evening sacrifice
May the words that I utter be acceptable to You
Just to spend this time with You is Paradise.
Thank-you Lord for being near me in the tempest of this day
When the waves of life washed o’er my weary soul
When, in fear, I cried “ Lord Jesus – don’t You care about my life?!”
I heard – “Peace, Be still!” You touched me – now I’m whole.
Now I long to stay beside You as I walk this path of life,
For I know that You so freely died for me
And I’ll gladly shun the pleasures that this world would offer now
So that I may share Your joy eternally.

If you had been the keeper of the inn at Bethlehem
That night so long ago when Joseph came to call,
Would shepherd’s stories have persuaded you to view with utter joy
That little baby as the greatest Gift of all?
Wrapped up in swaddling clothes – not bows or pretty paper,
No fancy box – instead a lowly cattle stall,
No twinkling lights but still the wisemen saw one bright
and shining star –
The night the Father gave the Greatest Gift of All.
How do we view this coming season we call Christmas time?
A must-do shopping trip through out some crowded mall?
Or do we see it as a time when we can truly celebrate
The night the Father gave The Greatest Gift of All?
Lord keep our focus on the Reason for the Season
Keep us from traps where we so easily might fall
And may we ever be reminded of that time we love so dear –
When we received Your Son – The Greatest Gift of All.
