It was a common enough scenario in the middle of a bustling shopping mall. A young child in tears over some unfortunate mishap - in need of a little extra TLC. The younger generation cast looks of annoyance over the commotion and the older generation cast knowing looks of sympathy in the direction of the child and his concerned parent. Memories of my own parental experiences reflected in my consciousness and it occurred to me just how important that moment was in the development of the child. Not only would the moment impact the child's future relationship with the attentive parent but it would also effect the view he would develop of his Heavenly Father.

There was little need for all the tears from the public's point of view
Just a minor common accident soon he'd be as good as new
But the trauma of the moment clearly touched the father's heart
And the pain of past experience – it was clear that played a part

The tears that flowed so freely over circumstantial pain
Though it seemed so insignificant – just a mishap once again
With a soothing word – a tender touch the pain was wiped away
Oh I think I saw a Father's love today

Though it wasn't much to cry about – soon the pain would all be past
It was clear the Father realized that the memories would last

But the little child within knows all about the Father's care
